Most Expensive Thing That You Can Buy on Amazon

Ever wondered what the most expensive thing on Amazon is? As I idly wandered through my Google Analytics this morning while I was busy munching my toast and slurping coffee, I found that someone had arrived on one of my Hubs by using the keyword phrase ‘most expensive item on Amazon’. Now this piqued my curiosity not just a little bit, but a lot. What was the most expensive item that you could find to buy on this massive internet retailer? Being based in the UK, I’m used to buying things like books and CDs from Amazon, but since I have started writing on HubPages, it has never failed to amaze and astonish me the diversity and range of the things that you can buy on their site in the States. So far in my Hub writing career, I have not found a single subject to write about that Amazon was not able to match with products – everything from vampire’s fangs, to Turkish Delight and books on famous executions in the Tower of London! But what is the most expensive item that you can purchase from Amazon?

When I typed in ‘most expensive item on Amazon’ it returned a very interesting group of products, some of which were actually not very expensive. But folks, how would you like to buy your very own Wedding Chapel with Wood Roof? For the sum of $21, 420.47, this quaint little Wedding Chapel can be all yours and is apparently delivered fully assembled. If you have the space in your garden, it could be the answer to the problems you are having finding a suitable venue for your impending nuptials, or maybe you could move into the wedding business yourself? After all, it could save people from having to go to Vegas?

The other interesting product that the search returned was a set of Aluminium Bleachers, which gives you ten rows. Perfect to go with the Wedding Chapel, as you could extend the seating outside in the summer months and invite more guests. At $10,927.37 these Aluminium Bleachers are not cheap, but I couldn’t help feeling that they could produce some much more expensive things to buy – I would just have to start searching the individual categories.

So since huge mansions, flashy cars and luxury yachts are not yet listed, which categories would I try first? The obvious answer was jewelry. Amazon has a very wide range of jewelry for sale online, and although many jewelry items are reasonably priced, surely there must be some expensive jewelry for sale? If you search the jewelry category, well over a million pieces of jewelry are listed, so would I find a really expensive, luxurious item of jewelry for sale? Would it be diamonds, sapphires or pearls? A necklace or, maybe, even a tiara? Well the most expensive jewelry item that I found on my search was a single natural, untreated ruby. Costing $3,000,000.00, this natural ruby is 20 carats, and is a Modified Brilliant cut.

If you want some nearly as expensive jewelry, but would like to have more than one beautiful red gemstone to show for your millions, there is also a Van Cleef & Arpels platinum, sapphire and diamond necklace for sale at $1,200,000.00 and a Platinum Diamond Riviera Necklace for $1,150,000.00. These were the most expensive jewelry items that I could find, but there was a wide range of other big ticket jewelry pieces to choose from, showing that Amazon is a place to shop for luxury fine jewelry.

So what other expensive, luxury items are there available for women? Well if you are looking to spend a lot of money on an expensive present for that special lady, why not consider a bottle of the new Clive Christian No. 1 Pure Perfume Splash? This handsome gift of fragrance will set you back $1,769.99, and comes in a gold bottle engraved with the signature crown of Queen Victoria. Or would you like to fragrance your bath, massage oil or facial creams with the calming, wonderful smell of roses? If you would like to buy your lucky lady the gift of time, why not look at a Cartier Santos 100 Diamond 18kt White Gold Pink Ladies Watch? Priced at $35,630.70, this handsome timepiece would match with lots of outfits, and is suitable for day or evening wear.

So we have seen that there are a lot of expensive, luxury items available for women, but what about the men in our lives? If your man is into gadgets and likes his music, there is the 2.1 Stereo OrbU. Retailing at $9,999.00, this bright red 2.1 stereo surround comes complete with a dedicated subwoofer, remote control and iPod dock connection.

Cufflinks always make a great gift for a man, and in this case these cufflinks also make a great investment! These 18k white gold and diamond cufflinks cost $29,000 on Amazon and would certainly add that bit of glamour when he is dressing for dinner.

Expensive items on Amazon are not just for adults, there are some pretty pricey toys and things for the kids as well.

So it looks as though the dearest item could be the natural ruby at $3,000,000. But Amazon is a dynamic site, and there are always new products being added and some being de-listed, so by tomorrow this could have changed. But now I know that this is an internet retailer that isn’t just for purchasing day-to-day items like books, but that there are also many expensive, luxury products to choose from. So when I win the lottery, at least I know where I can go and do my shopping!
